⬢Some parts on your printer can be used for upgrading, it is essential to check their condition before you start upgrading. This chapter will guide you through the visual inspection of all these parts. If you find a part in poor condition, you have plenty of time to order a new one and continue using the printer in the meantime.
Do not disassemble or disconnect anything until prompted.
The following instructions use the MK3S+ printer as an example. Some parts may be slightly different from previous models.
⬢Any parts that are found to be in poor condition during the inspection can be replaced with new parts. Everything is available in our eshop.

Original Prusa i3 MK3/MK3S/MK3S+ to MK4S/MK3.9S upgrade (1.01)
STOP Here if you the old style Y-CarriageAs of November2024 the upgrade kit is missing 6 bolts and nuts required for the old Y-Carriage.You will need to "source these locally" (says Prusa Suppor Chat) if you have the old style Y-CarriageYou can NOT complete the upgrade without these 6 bolts and nutsSee the comments in section 7. Y-carriage & Heatbed assembly Step: 7. Y-carriage (OLD): parts preparation (Link: https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/7-y-carriage-heatbed-assembly_734463#750443 )
Locally sourced here could mean sourcing these parts from the tear down of the Mk3S+.I agree - Prusa should throw in the 6 extra M3x12's and M3Nn nuts. After reading the above comment from @OnlyCurves I stopped and opened a chat with support. They re-assured me the kit had everything it needed. It did not. Thankfully, I still had the bag of spare parts from the MK3S and MK3S+ upgrade kits, and kept a box from the tear down portion of these instructions. I had *just* enough of the M3x12's and the M3 Nylon nuts.Prusa should be sending a the 6 extra bolts and nuts. On that same point I ended up with quite the pile of unused fasteners in the kit...
Recent upgrade kits seem to be shipping with the printed parts, and don't need anything printing. If you have a bunch of black and orange printed parts with your kit, and no black and orange filament, then you probably don't need to print anything and can get straight on with dissasembling your existing printer when you get to 1b.
I concur with Hollo, I ordered upgrade late on 21 Oct 2024 and just received 25 Oct 2024. Printed parts shipped in upgrade (3s+to3.9s+). Only a small sample pack (50grams) of Prusa Galaxy black & silver
I ordered (and recieved) 3s to 4s upgrade in November2024 and all the printed parts are in the box. There are only samples of filament. (Great :-) but I'd allready printed the PETG ones)
I was wondering about that and it does seem to be a departure from the previous upgrades I've done to upgrade my MK3 to MK3S+ and MMU3. Happy to receive printed parts but the documentation does need updating.
