The first version of the Prusa app offers the option of using Prusa Connect from your smartphone.

The app includes observational features for printers and teams, a basic direct print option, working with NFC, and notifications.

Download

What can the Prusa app do?

  • Printers: easy monitoring of printers and their current statuses
  • Jobs: overview of current and historical print jobs, up-to-date telemetry
  • Notifications: Notification of important events and statuses of your printers and jobs directly on your mobile phone, both as a "push" and a notification screen
  • Wi-Fi Printer Setup with NFC: NFC makes it quick and easy to set up Wi-Fi connectivity for your new MK4S printers
  • Adding a printer: You can easily add new printers under your account, to your team and manage them

Features to be improved

You are welcome to try these features, but they are still being improved:

  • Starting printing from the cloud: Start a print job directly from the cloud

I installed Prusa Connect on my old Android v8.0.0 Samsung Galaxy s7. Installation ends successfully, but the app hangs on start and displays only the Prusa logo at the top of a white empty window. Uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted phone, no difference. Is Android v8.0.0 too old/unsupported? My phone does not support more recent Android upgrades.

I read somewhere on your web site that "in principle" it is possible to initialize the Core One camera via Prusa Slicer on a PC, Physical Printer tab. I cannot find the instructions to do this. I actually don't need the Android Prusa Connect for anything else, my only problem is installing the Core One camera without a functioning Android Prusa Connect.

Replying to myself:

1 - Connect the Core One to your LAN. I did this on a Windows PC. Insert the Prusa USB stick in the PC and make a note of which drive letter it is assigned. In Prusa Slicer, go to Configuration -> Wi-Fi Configuration file, enter the Wi-Fi SSID, WI-Fi password, and select the drive letter of the USB drive to save the file. It is also very simple to manually write the .ini file in a text editor. Then insert the USB stick in the printer, start it up, and configure the network in the printer. I recommend also adding the printer to Prusa Link in Slicer, because it is easier to use Slicer, Physical Printer tab (as opposed to the cloud and a mobile phone) for viewing the camera output.

2 - Register the Core One on Prusa Connect (I did this on a Windows PC, you can log in with the same user account as in the Prusa web shop) at https://connect.prusa3d.com/add-printer/select . The procedure is described at https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/adding-the-printer-to-prusa-connect-core-one-mk4-s-mk3-9-s-mk3-5-s-xl-mini_417586#417635 . Initially I was stumped about what kind of code Prusa Connect was asking me. The code is generated by the printer at NETWORK -> Prusa Connect -> Enabled -> Add printer to connect. Ignore the the QR code and write down the string of characters in the bottom half of the screen. Type the code in the Prusa Connect form.

3 - Follow the instructions in the Buddy3D user guide to couple the camera and printer. Link to the PDF of the instructions is available at https://www.prusa3d.com/product/buddy3d-camera-for-prusa-core-one/ near the bottom of the page.

It is easier to do this before attaching the USB cable of the camera with cable ties inside the Core One. This way you are free to swing the camera toward the PC screen to scan the code. You can also disconnect the camera from the printer and power the camera from a USB port of the PC (it will only use power, no data connection).

Any plans to add support for common printer control things like octo or mainsail? I have all my mk3 printers on octoeverywhere but I like the ability to see my idle printers from within p slicer. Would be great for mixed age fleets that don't want to upgrade a dozen printers at the same time.

Just completed assembly of MK 4S, and it fails the calibration test on the X axis. I reset the factory settings, recalibrated and failed again. I have the current software up to six point. What next?
