I did the MK3S to MK3S+ upgrade to the E and Y axis. Already had the latest 3.9.3 FW installed. Display still says MK3S after the upgrade, is there a way to change it to MK3S+? Was hoping the superPinda could be detected and show us that it was recognized with the + sign in the model.
Hello. There's no distinction between firmware for the MK3S and firmware for the MK3S+, so there is no way to change the name to MK3S+ in the display. This is not a problem anyway.
Hi, Like others I would like to update my MK3S/MMU2S to MK3S+/MMU2S.What are the specific step to do to be able to proceed with the hardware update ?If not available by when could we hope to have them available ?Thanks.
Hello. If you wish the full upgrade, it's necessary to buy the kit, which includes the SuperPINDA a different PTFE tube for the extruder, the bearing clips and the fan shroud in ASA. If you wish only to modify the extruder, then you would require to purchase the shorter PTFE tube specifically for the MK3S+, while the plastic parts can be printed. The files are available here: https://www.prusa3d.com/prusa-i3-printable-parts/
Hi, Thank you for your reply. Sorry my question was not clear. I have the updgrade kit and have already printed the replacement part, but I wonder like others I don't understand if I can proceed to the upgrade having the MMU2S already installed. If so how to.
Hello. So you had the MMU2S before the MK3S+ was launched, is that right? In this case, before disassemblying the extruder print the few new extruder parts of the MMU2S, which are the adapter printer, the extruder idler, the IR sensor cover and the IR sensor holder. If you already printed them as well, then follow this manual to assemble most of the extruder, but for the MMU2S parts on top of the extruder the other assembly manual for the MMU2S should be consulted.
Thanks, this is great info (it really should be a new guide, or an alternate path in this guide). I've printed fs-cover-mmu2s.stl, but I don't have the M5 threaded insert for the tube fitting. I've found in a comment elsewhere on this site that the part is a "Tappex Microbarb 300126531 0006-M5". Can you confirm this is the correct part? What is the process for installing this into the printed part? Is it just pressed into place, or do I need to warm it first?
Hi! Yes, that's the actual threaded insert used. Usually, these inserts are being DIY installed using a soldering iron. It is important that the insert is perfectly lined up. That's the reason why Prusa doesn't sell the inserts alone.
PLEASE PLEASE make a note of that in this bullet point -> "WARNING: Before you start disassembling the printer, make sure you have printed all the necessary parts for the upgrade!!! "If you have the MMU2 You must print the MMU2S upgrade parts before before starting the upgrade!!!" BTW shouldn't you also label those new parts "MMU2S+ parts" if the "pre-MK3S+" MMU2S need updating? I spent 1/2 day and tech supports time trying to figure out why my filament wouldn't reach teh extruder.
Hey, I don't see guide to upgrade "optional" X-axis. I searched whole help but nothing. Maybe there is somewhere? I have printed parts, have the bag with screws. I have upgraded the rest of the package, both Extruder and Y-Axis.
I too have bought the 3S+ upgrade and have the MMU2s as well thinking there would not be an issue. Do I understand this properly that there are, as yet, no instructions and no STL files to do this ?
